Elizabeth Pomada and Michael Larsen welcome you to the Painted Ladies web site, your online source for the wonders of Victorian architecture. We are the authors of six volumes on the beautiful painted ladies of San Francisco, America and around the world.
You can see for yourself that we practice what we preach when you visit our page about the process of updating our own painted lady. There’s a discussion of the work we had done to beautify her, as well as a series of images showing her before, during and after!
You can see all our titles on the Books page. We also have added a preview of Zalipie, the first chapter of Painted Architecture of the World, the second chapter on Camogli, and the chapter on Nice.
We’re always looking for new Painted Ladies: Victorians painted in three or more colors that highlight the architecture’s ruffles and flourishes. If your house is a Painted Lady, or if you know of one, we may be able to feature it on our website or in our next book. Just email your photo(s), your contact information and a brief description of the house and its location along with your permission to use your materials, and we’ll keep everything you send us on file. Of course, we will contact you should we wish to drop by to do a more formal camera shoot for the next book.
Whether you have a Painted Lady to share or not, we’d love to hear from you.
